The Secretariat Heritage Center, a new non-profit, is dedicated to further developing Secretariat's Virginia birthplace into a national heritage tourism destination and education center. It will showcase the multi-layered story of the land, the family and the legend of Secretariat; the vital role of the horse in Virginia; and the theme of excellence as embodied by this immortal Triple Crown champion.
The Secretariat Heritage Center will tell the inspiring story of my mother, Penny Chenery, who raced Secretariat, and of my grandfather, Christopher Chenery, who founded Meadow Stable." Kate Chenery Tweedy, National Chair, Secretariat Heritage Center Promise Campaign
Our plan is to elevate the current Secretariat tourism program and enrich the visitor experience through expanded tours, new interactive exhibits, displays of important racing trophies and historic artifacts, and youth-focused activities.
Our immediate goal is to restore the original 1930s-era barns that are on the National Register of Historic Places and Virginia Landmarks Register.
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals and bring the story of Secretariat's Birthplace to Life. Your generous donation will fund our mission.
